Inspired by English Longhorn Cattle on water meadows, this egg tempera painting on real gesso has a mass of medieval millefleurs surrounding the cows.

The words are ‘English longhorn cattle: Dappled in shadowed water meadows, their thick coats finched on red, brown and grey, overarched by horns wide and spread, sometimes flicked or twisted.  Heads nod and feet scuff as they amble nosing meadow foxtail, cowslips and soft rush at medieval water’s edge.’
